Peter William and May McFarlane

Peter and May had five boys and three daughters. Three boys passed away as infants and William drowned in a swimming pool at present day Rainbow Gardens.[1] May told Peter that maybe if she named their next boy after him he would live. They named their next baby Peter Joseph and he lived to be 77 years old.[2]
Peter was innovative. One of the things that he invented was a piece of metal that you could puncture through a tin can that served as a handle and a spout. Peter was a big man and was quite strong. One time he was dared to lift a piano and he did.[3] Another time he stood above a car engine and lifted it up.[2] Unfortunately, he would die at a young age.
May was really sociable. She also enjoyed the outdoors. After Peter died, she eventually married Otto Smith. They would go up to Yellowstone and camp out for quite some time during the summer. They also lived in a big tent that they made while they built a house in Clearfield. Otto was a boat maker. After he died, May eventually moved to the mouth of Ogden Canyon.[1]
